Cell Form 2 is ugly as sin and sounds awful.

Vaioumon

16 shows off how strong he’s been the whole time, 17 manages to idiot his way into Cell’s body, and 18 has to fend off Cell’s creepy pubescent come ons. What an episode. Also Tien’s there.

Terrorking

I loved this episode. Cell’s first form looks really cool in motion, especially when he’s up against someone way smaller than him like 17 or equal size like 16. I especially liked 16 stepping up to fight him because he realized Cell was gonna eat his friends.

Carly Nagisa

This episode is the continuation of the entirety of how Cell’s plan work because everyone is holding the idiot ball, even Cell himself! Seriously, if any of our star characters or Cell himself took one second to consider their options, chances are this Arc would end much quicker for either side.

Tesla Coil

Carly talked about the idiot plot, Team Four Star made all the 18 jokes… man. I got nothing to say here.

Rob Lucci

Cell second form is ugly and his voice sounds like goop mixed with gravel given form.

MC is a dick.

Vaioumon

And the slave squad manages to take over their group. Our MC, whose name escapes me, has no problem shooting a man dead without a second thought, which seems fitting given the background, but is weird in a silly way for the main character.

Terrorking

There are two moments in this episode that really stuck out to me because of how sudden and out of place they feel. This is the first. He just walks up to the guy and shoots him dead. And then another guy gets up to protest and gets riddled with bullets too.

Carly Nagisa

This has every 12 year old’s fantasy for a hardcore seiren written all over it. Wait..I’m not watching Akame ga Kill, but it certainly feels like it with this mood whiplash.

Tesla Coil

The scenes of… uh… screw it I’m just gonna keep calling her Zelda… trying to help out remind me of Nia from Gurren Lagann.  I actually don’t dislike that cliche, and it’s almost enough to make me like Zelda as a character. Except for the fact that I have no idea why she’s in love with – or even likes – the main character. He’s been nothing but douchey towards her.

Rob Lucci

This is still in the setup phase of things. Man, Gundam is slow.

Purdy.

Vaioumon

Dude shows up demanding a rematch for honor or something, didn’t quite catch it. MC just destroys his mech and shoots him dead anyways, again without any consideration. The team decides to keep escortin’ the chick with the hair, who promises to give them steady work. Also they come up with a team name, but it sounded like gibberish. Tekken? Tekkuren? Taikkuren? Who knows.

Terrorking

So here’s the second one. The old commander asks to be killed because he doesn’t believe in suicide and he knows if he lives his men will go down with him. Mid-speech, Minazuki just empties a few rounds into him. It was so abrupt and done with so little care that I couldn’t help but laugh.

I’m liking this show. The cast isn’t hardcore edgy, nor are they distractingly goofy.

Carly Nagisa

Clearly he never went into the Gundam School of proper manners. Otherwise, he would have tried to let him finish before tearing up and pulling the trigger out of reaction and moping about it for 10 eps.

Tesla Coil

Minazuki shooting the guy was pretty funny. If it weren’t for the cringey romance, I’d really be sold on this show by now.

Rob Lucci

I genuinely hope that the MC stays at this level of anti-hero throughout the show. 00 copped out on having anti-heroes.

Gon with the reverse-jape.

Vaioumon

Gon once again gets through an otherwise daunting predicament with simple mindedness and his physical prowess. Always fun to see someone trying mind games get taken down by the group idiot.

Terrorking

See, this works because the guy sets up such an elaborate ruse and Togashi tricks us into thinking this is a thought-intensive battle of wits… only for Gon to find literally the simplest, most basic solution to the problem. Really plays into his “naive wisdom” thing. Kinda like Goku or really early One Piece Luffy.

Carly Nagisa

You know its scene like this that made me remember why I actually love Togashi’s work or why I keep getting Yu Yu hakusho flashbacks.

DJ JayRap

I liked that the solution was just that simple. For the same reasons Terror just posted.

Tesla Coil

Yeah, the candle battle was pretty funny. It seemed like a pretty obvious choice, so I would’ve rather they’d just went for it immediately. None of this “oh no, what will he do?!” business. Just “Now we have lit our candles, and – ” “Phooo”.

Rob Lucci

I expected a candle to literally explode or something but this whole sequence is way better than that.

The rejected Blue Man Group man.

Vaioumon

Haha what are even humans.

Terrorking

This guy looks like Ogre‘s deformed little brother.

Carly Nagisa

DMX gonna give it to ya right here.

DJ JayRap

I thought he looked familiar, thanks for that! This guy being a sissy was a bit amusing, and they telegraphed it very well with the guy just talking too much (alongside his other actions).

Tesla Coil

Still wondering what the deal is with those tubes connecting his head to his back.

Rob Lucci

It’s like Blue Bane. Bluane, if you will.

Sharingan?!

Vaioumon

Kurapika’s past comes up again to show that he goes nuts when he see’s the twelve-legged spider mark of the gang that killed his…family? Clan? I don’t remember. Also he apparently goes into crazy rage mode whenever he sees any spider tattoos. Or spider drawings. Or even just real spiders. What a wacky character.

Terrorking

Hey, it’s the Sharingan. Man Kishimoto is a hack, but Sasuke would’ve been infinitely more tolerable if he had Kurapika’s personality instead of generic rival personality. I also liked the episode, mostly because of how it used the characters.

Carly Nagisa

Yoko Kurama jokes aside, I really do like how Kurapika is handled. We know he is a complete mess and he has a avenging agenda but he’s not an insufferable twat about it. He still has a sense of humanity in him and don’t really bring the scenes down with his brooding or suffering. Something Sasuke could severely learn from.

DJ JayRap

SHARINGAN AHHHHH-

Kurapika’s an alright dude. I got a good laugh when he explained that he goes crazy if he sees a spider of any sort. Time to hide our Spidermans.

Tesla Coil

This part felt pretty weak. Kurapika going into full-on berserk rage mode and saying he’ll kill the blue guy with his bare hands doesn’t mean much. He already agreed to fight the blue guy to the death in a hand-to-hand fight, when he wasn’t in rage mode. And the rage punch probably only knocked him out anyway. I’m probably being too nitpicky on a pretty decent show, but hey, I’m on a review blog. That’s my job.

Rob Lucci

Kurapika acts like he didn’t kill blue man, but it sure looks like blue man died. I’m getting mixed signals!

But yeah, I’m liking his character more than Sasuke’s so far. A lack of perpetual emoness is appreciated.

Sad Fuu.

Vaioumon

Fuu is once again contemplating their adventure. We’ve seen it before, but this time we hear about Fuu’s mom.

Terrorking

On this 24th episode the cast finally tell their full backstories. How you know this is a good show is the backstories have never felt like they were missing.

Carly Nagisa

When you drop actual flashbacks and backstories of the main cast this late into the game, you know that the series is about to come to an end.

DJ JayRap

They were telling each other their backstories and it genuinely didn’t feel like new information. Maybe there was an added detail or two. Mugen’s was a whole new story, but you could always assume the guy did crazy stuff in his past anyway.

Totally not the Samurai that Smells of Sunflowers.

Vaioumon

The smelly samurai appears at last. Or maybe he’s just another flowery samurai, and not the specific one they’ve been lookin’ for the whole time. At any rate, it’s time for another big fight with a strong character. Also Fuu’s getting attacked while she’s all alone, will she survive?! Tune in next week to find out!

Terrorking

This episode was pure build up, but it was done well enough that you wouldn’t even notice. I like it!

Carly Nagisa

Fuu is right to stick to Mugan and Jin because she always get kinapped or almost murdered by someone. It makes you wonder how she survived before meeting with the old people or her time at the restaurant.

DJ JayRap

One of these days, Fuu will finally not get attacked indiscriminately out of nowhere. One day. Today wasn’t that day.

Rob Lucci

I never have much to say about this show, but it’s really good for reasons. This simple, well-directed setup is one of those reasons. The pacing and tone of so many of the shots delivers a great sense of subtly often lacking in shows in the last 5-6 years.

Shippuden

2016-06-19 (4)

Worst girl.

Terrorking

Karin is such a shitty character. And the filler backstory of how they meet shows what awful people they are. Sasuke for hunting down people trying to escape Oro’s experiments and Karin for getting hot over Sasuke murdering someone for her.

Carly Nagisa

Now to be fair Terror, all of them are pretty shitty. I think I actually like the canon meeting for Karin and Sasuke over the filler junk. Kid Sasuke was still a dick for taking her scroll in the chuunin exams though.

DJ JayRap

I watched this and had no idea what I watched. I just know Sasuke Shippuden is looking like the worst thing right now.

Rob Lucci

I didn’t watch this, I just wanna say that Karin is insufferable.

One Piece

Oars. Or Oz. I don’t know.

Vaioumon

This episode, we find out the reason Moriah’s so excited about getting Luffy’s shadow is that he wanted it as the soul for a giant demon zombie. Meanwhile, Brook explains the only way to permanently kill a zombie, as well as what happened in his previous time on the island 5 years prior. Now he’s off to reclaim his shadow from the zombie it’s powering. Feels like a lot happened, but that might be the Toei conditioning setting in.

Terrorking

OARS?!

Carly Nagisa

You know if salt could work on zombies made by Devil Fruit, by that logic it should work on anything devil fruit related. And it could have been something inventive that you would have never realized until you understand completely the nature of a Devil Fruit. Sigh, if only.

Rob Lucci

This episode had a lot of laughing.
