Tesla Coil

Vegeta got to enjoy being a Super Saiyan for exactly one fight. Then he got curbstomped. Ah, the life of a Dragonball character.

Terrorking

I really enjoy this episode. After Vegeta’s spent a few episodes being full of himself, get gets knocked down a peg and will have to stop being complacent and get stronger. Also of note, Vegeta killed all the people that died in this episode, not 18.

Rob Lucci

Vegeta getting destroyed is pretty great sometimes. With Frieza it was sad, but it’s funny to see him take a fall after all the hype he built up for himself.

Carly Nagisa

A slow start but we’re starting to see 16 becoming more human through the powers of bird watching. Meanwhile 17 provides great commentary about 18 kicking Vegeta’s butt. Really like how these villains are coming together though in reality can you consider them to be monsters? They seem more like a rowdy bunch of teens just looking to have fun.

Kyoma’s suffering

Tesla Coil

These flashbacks showed a lot about Kyoma, and didn’t just tell us things with dumb dialogue. They were really good. They would’ve been even better in episode 1 or 2.

Terrorking

“Oh, so that’s why Kyoma is the guy who he is. Too bad I don’t care enough about him to care about what he’s lost.” – Me

Rob Lucci

This is probably the first time I’ve been genuinely interested in what’s happening. It feels like it’s using the technology as a device to help the setting, while focusing more on the emotional aspect. There’s stakes! There’s actually stakes! I agree with Tesla – this should’ve been early on.

Carly Nagisa

This really should have been the first ep or at worst episode 3 at the latest. It gave the right amount of structure and context that would have really help the show. Too bad they waited too late to do so which makes me unable to feel sad or anything from this.

EASTER ISLAND UNLEASHED SATAN

Tesla Coil

The other half of the episode was the same sort of stuff we’ve seen before. “We need to figure out what X people want with Y coil that, for some reason, does not have Z property that we just explained this episode”.

But it was more interesting than the other weeks. Maybe it’s because everything looked like the sci-fi setting we were introduced to and not a haunted mansion. Maybe it’s because the stakes were raised and it feels like everything’s heading towards its conclusion. Or maybe I just wasn’t doing something more interesting in another tab.

Terrorking

I did not enjoy this episode. The minute they start talking about the show’s plot I just stop caring.

Rob Lucci

I feel like the show kinda lost me in the second half amidst the jargon, but at least there’s some sort of confrontation about to happen that might makes things more interesting? Also, whoops, Cthulhu.

Carly Nagisa

Are we sure we got the right show? There wasn’t a single butt shot or Mira fanservice in general.

Parasyte

2016-04-10 (1).png

Memories.

Terrorking

Migi leaves Shinichi, but does so in a dream. A big theme of the show is how humans manipulate the environment to suit their needs: what survives is what humans see as useful. To that end, Migi wants to see how Shinichi sees him and how he saw all those that have died. Heavy stuff.

Rob Lucci

Seeing Migi’s progression is really fantastic, honestly.

 Carly Nagisa

“Seriously? Is that what I look like? God I must have looked completely ridiculous?!?!”

You thought this thread wouldn’t come back?!

Terrorking

I love how this guy just shows up out of nowhere after he disappeared a few episodes ago. He was such a footnote compared to Goto and the parasites that you would not be blamed for forgetting him. Once again, Parasyte’s writer shows he actually planned out his story.

Rob Lucci

Uragami’s narrative purpose is kind of iffy. The idea of “Oh, but humans that are just as bad as Parasytes exist.” is fine, but it’s kind of just thrown on at the last minute. There’s not a lot of thematic buildup to it, and it leaves the impression that his character wasn’t as necessary. It’s clever that the show might make you mistake him for one in his first appearance at the start of the show, though.

 Carly Nagisa

And this boys and girls is how you correctly tie up all loose ends. While he is no Ryoko or Goto, he certainly is something to be admired for the short amount of time he had in the series. Forget what Rob said, this is a fine approach considering the entire theme been Man vs Aliens and who are the real monsters. It has always been a center piece even within the first few eps when shinichi was acting the moral high-ground while Migi just knocked down his logic with realism and pointing at Humanity’s hypocrisy.

A happy ending.

Terrorking

I was ready for this to end sad, but it surprised me and didn’t. Parasyte slowly built itself, from episode 1 until the final episode, to end on this note. Everything in the show leads to what was said and done in the final 5 minutes. I dug this show.

Rob Lucci

I’m glad this avoided the bullshit last minute dark ending nonsense and stuck with something moderately happy.

Carly Nagisa

Shinichi suffered enough, he already lost  Migi…kinda so having Murano die too would be just too much. You can only do so much sadness and gritty dark ending nonsense until it becomes Attack on Titan where it means absolutely effing nothing and just tackled in to be hardcore and edgy.

Champloo

Fuu’s dreams of a threesome fade away under the weight of her sudden fatness.

Terrorking

Who let out Majin Fu?!

Rob Lucci

They kept this gag running for like 3 minutes and I love it

Carly Nagisa

Holy mother of Buddha, did someone forget to help the beach whale return to the sea or cook it into sushi?

I bet Mugen wishes she was in front and not behind

Terrorking

This episode was a nice breather from the heavy stuff in Parasyte. This was just 23 minutes of nonsense. Cool nonsense.

Rob Lucci

This episode was some Space Dandy-tier comedy. I loved every second.

Carly Nagisa

This is why Samurai Champloo is a good show.

Contrived bullshit part 25

Terrorking

It’s finally ending. Soon. Soon.

Rob Lucci

Why does the Three Tail’s stomach look like a torture dungeon?

Carly Nagisa

You know if this was Jesus Naruto talking, he’d instantly forgive Gurren and correct her on the right path  of being a good character.

One Piece

Rape.

Terrorking

Oda’s art is too awful for Nami fanservice like this to actually qualify as fanservice. Her body is gross to look at. Also, Hogback and invisible man look like just new awful One Piece villains.

Rob Lucci

See, I find Thriller Bark to be pretty dull. It’s inventive and seems like an excuse to show off a catalog of Oda’s random character designs, but it’s still kinda… eh. It doesn’t pull off being creepy and the comedy is hit and miss.

Carly Nagisa

To hell with the fanservice, go back to Luffy putting a zombie into the ground and monster hunting all of them for fun.
