DBZ Kai

Terrorking

Goku and Frieza feeling each other out. It was a bit ridiculous in how Toei still had so much padding despite the purpose of Kai to be bringing the anime in line with the manga. Also, cutting to Bulma in the middle of the fight is annoying.

Akame Ga Kill

Terrorking

So. Apparently the best way to show a character resolving to get stronger is to show them naked.

Rob Lucci

This sets a reminder that the show is, in parts, harem-based. The fact you have two convenient strands of pink hair that only go over her nipples just makes her breasts stand out more. This character in particular (Mine) doesn’t have much of any development. She’s just a tsundere. Her last gimmick was the decades-old “Male character walks in on female dressing” skit.

This show doesn’t have a shred of originality.

Flame Effigy

I’m sorry, I got so distracted by this ridiculous opening that I didn’t catch a word she said. Good thing it apparently wasn’t important, because she’s not in the rest of the episode.

Terrorking

Gay Dandy is the closest person to being a character. Sadly, all the references to him made by the main character rings hollow because they just didn’t spend much time together onscreen.

Rob Lucci

The first few episodes should’ve focused on Bulat and Tatsumi, but instead, it’s as unfocused as ever. There was no true mentorship that helped things flow together. It’s an uneven mess. RIP Gay Dandy.

Flame Effigy

Remember when Gay Dandy and Tatsumi were best friends and called each other bro after multiple episodes of bonding and characterization? Wait, that didn’t happen? Oh.

Terrorking

“Just in case you were taking this seriously, have some tits!” – the writers. The tone shift here is bizarre as well. She came to pay respects to her fallen men, but she simultaneously thinks they’re trash for being weak and dying? She effectively chose to do something she hated… oh wait, I do that when I watch this show. Never mind.

Rob Lucci

Boy, I sure hate Esdeath. This show has no comprehension of visual storytelling unless it comes to showing off big ol’ titties, then it overdoes it. Like here. Esdeath is terrible.

Flame Effigy

She has feelings?! Oh no, she’s just being a dick at their graves. Okay, I guess we needed some more monologues with her telling the world that she’s evil.

Terrorking

There’s an evil team introduced this episode to be an anti-nightraid (wouldn’t that make them good guys?). This guy looks like the Gay Dandy equivalent.

Rob Lucci

Bols? Buls? Whatever Gimp Shyman’s true name is, he’s a hero.

Flame Effigy

I liked this guy until the cooking scene, where the Nightraid parallels became too much to handle.

Terrorking

Rob Lucci

Camp gay.

Flame Effigy

Oh no, the rival team has their own gay guy!

Terrorking

And here’s our anti-Nightraid. Look how wacky they all look. Yes, this show is a master of tone.

Rob Lucci

What is this show even trying to convey?

Flame Effigy

Maybe Nightraid fighting their mirrors could be cool.

Terrorking

I can’t help but notice Esdeath’s titters are nowhere near as big as they become.

Rob Lucci

This started because Lubbock Texas decided to say “Okay, I’ll tell you the story.” No buildup or anything on Najenda’s character. Sigh.

Terrorking

Oh look, the “survival of the fittest” cliche. Too bad she can’t even keep that consistent since she wants a weaker man. Because writing.

Rob Lucci

The evil men are evil. SHIT SON.

Flame Effigy

Wait, wouldn’t this flashback with her mooks have worked better if it was like the first thing we saw? Then them fighting with Gay Dandy wouldn’t have been out of nowhere, Esdeath’s introduction scene would have been less ridiculous, and we’d have actually known what her connection with Eyepatch Robotarm Tits Leader was. Oh well, what is cohesive storytelling, amirite?

Terrorking

Minotaur out of nowhere. What even is this world?

Rob Lucci

Attack on Titan had better worldbuilding than this.

Flame Effigy

Dude, Tatsumi’s gonna get so much XP from this. What? This is real life? Then why do they keep saying they’ll get XP? Also, she’s seriously sponsoring a martial arts tournament, allowing Jimmy to check her out? Of all the contrived garbage they could have…I just can’t. I can’t. Is this a parody? It was mentioned so casually and offhanded.

Oh okay, it’s to find someone who can wield an imperial arms. Even though the strongest fighter isn’t automatically able to wield arms, so hosting a tourney literally makes no sense. Okay. I mean, you might just kill the person “chosen” to wield an arms int he first round, but okay sure!

Terrorking

Our villain, everyone. Harem logic is mighty.

Rob Lucci

Fuck this show.

Flame Effigy

Is this a parody.

Parasyte

Terrorking

Last week Parasyte had maybe one bad moment, but this week is happily devoid of any. Lottsa characterization this time around. Migi’s voice can be grating in large amounts, however.

Rob Lucci

Strong on characterization and creatively funny moments, Parasyte follows up its premier by proving more of its strengths. Even the gimmick boob grab from last week actually went somewhere, because the dialogue and events occurring here all seem important.

Flame Effigy

It’s weird how quickly the past two monsters of the week have gone down, but I suppose that just goes to show how vulnerable they really are. Very strange ending, which seems to be important for future episodes. The parasyte this week trying to get Migi to join up with him was probably foreshadowing to some sort of parasyte teamup.

Good show so far, but the voice isn’t great.

Michiko and Hatchin

Terrorking

This was just “Adorable: the Episode”. Nobody wants to see Hatchin sad, not even a heart as dark as mine.

Rob Lucci

Cute, but sad. Last week’s episode was high-octane and exciting, making this a nice low-key follow-up focusing on characterising Hatchin.

Flame Effigy

This episode had some very questionable writing, but it was pretty to look at with the storybook effects, and the opening scene with Hatchin reaching up into the sky was gorgeous.

Shippuden

Terrorking

I spent most of this episode talking about how bad Shikamaru: Shippuden is and how much of a mary sue Shikamaru is. Because he is and it is terrible. Nice animation though, and good faces from Hidan.

Rob Lucci

Hidan and Kakuzu are good characters who don’t fit or belong in the story’s mythos.

Flame Effigy

The animation jump in these last few episode has been ridiculous, and I’m going to be extremely disappointed when the animation drops back to what it usually is, which is barely even animation.

The problem with this fight is that it’s actually fighting, where as most other Naruto fights are ninja magic. Hidan and Kakuzu never stood a chance.

One Piece

Terrorking

Ugh… Episode made me hungry though.

Rob Lucci

Look at that animation.

Flame Effigy

One Piece isn’t a good show.
